Religion is an important part of the school day at St. Jude. Basic prayers are taught and learned at different grade levels. Daily prayer, both as a school and in individual classes, is integral to the daily routine.
The spiritual atmosphere is very family oriented at St. Jude. Prayer Families, small groups comprised of students from grades K-8, gather together once a month to do service projects for the community. These meetings are in addition to weekly all school Mass, Lenten, Advent and Living Rosary prayer services.
Sacramental preparation is done in the classroom. In Second Grade, students receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time and prepare all year to receive the Holy Eucharist in May. In 7th and 8th Grade, students prepare for Confirmation, made in the spring
The school curriculum is approved by the Diocese of Joliet's Catholic Schools Office. Religion is taught from Preschool to 8th Grade. Family Life is introduced in Fifth Grade. The series used is Blest Are We by RCL Benziger.
