Liturgical Ministries

The St. Jude faith community encourages everyone to participate in our liturgies. Several opportunities are available to our members to exercise their Stewardship responsibilities by sharing their time and talents. It takes the efforts of many individuals to bring about faith fulfilling liturgies for the congregation.. So please browse the opportunities below for groups that interest you. Contact the individuals indicated for more details.

Altar Servers-Sister Sharon Stola-463-4221
The Altar Servers Ministry assumes a very important role in the celebration of the Mass and special services. The servers not only enhance the liturgy, in their own quiet way they also help to make praise and adoration more meaningful for our faith community. Any interested students in grades 5 through 12 are welcome to join. Training is done in the spring of each year.

Baptism Hospitality-462-0079
Baptism Hospitality ministers represent the Catholic Community of Saint Jude at the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. As parish representatives, you will extend the warmth of our parishcommunity by welcoming and assisting the young families who are bringing their babies to be baptized, their relatives and friends. To those you greet-you are the heart and hands of Jesus Christ. Some of the people you greet may not have been in the church for some time. Others are not of our faith; and, still others may be searching for a faith community. What a wonderful opportunity to reach out to them as Jesus would. In fact, Jesus will be reaching out to them-through you! In addition to your role as minister of hospitality, you will be asked to prepare the worship space for the baptism liturgy. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on three Sunday afternoons each month. Baptism Hospitality ministers typically serve once in a two-month period. You can participate in this ministry as a couple or as an individual. If you feel called to this important ministry, or would like more information, call Sharon Seliga at 462-0079.

Eucharistic Ministers-Sister Sharon Stola-463-4221
Lay men and women who would like to assist the priest in the distribution of Holy Communionat Mass are most welcome.

Eucharistic Ministers for Shut-Ins-Ginny Brozovic-485-6571
For those who are unable to attend Mass, we have a special Eucharistic Ministry that brings Christ and spiritual friendships to them. After the 9:00 AM Mass every Sunday, some of our Eucharistic Ministers take Holy Communion to the homes of our parishioners unable to attend Mass. Ministers also visit Sunny Hill Nursing Home, along with Salem Nursing Home and Towers. Besides administering Holy Communion, ministers pray with the residents, read the gospel and visit. If you're interested in bringing sunshine into someone's life, please join.

Lectors-Ministers of the Word-Sister Sharon Stola-463-4221
Lectors help bring the Word of God to parishioners at daily, Sunday, and Holy Day Masses. Lectors read the first and second readings, and lead us in praying our petitions. Participants receive a guide workbook in November for the coming Church year, which begins with the first Sunday of Advent. If you have good voice projection and reading abilities, and are interested in joining this ministry, please give us a call.

Ushers-Ministers of Hospitality-Rich Solava (485-0224) & Bob Krejci (485-3350)
Our ministers of hospitality are lay men and women who help everyone feel welcome and comfortable in our Church. Besides greeting you on your way into Church, they assist with collections, the orderly procession during the Eucharist, distribution of the bulletins and special needs that arise before, during and after Sunday Masses.
