Congratulations! Your baby's baptism will be a special moment for you and your family. It will also be a special moment for your parish as we welcome your child into God's family.

We look forward to helping you prepare for your baby's baptism so that it will be a day to remember for everyone.

When Are Baptisms Celebrated

Baptisms are celebrated on most Sundays of the year at 1:00 in the afternoon.

Baptism Preparation

If this is your first child, or if this is your first child to be baptized here at St. Jude, you are asked to attend one Baptism Preparation Session (either the 1st Monday or the 4th Thursday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm). Sessions are held in Franciscan Hall, Room 3.

Please contact the Parish Office at 815-485-8049 to register for one of these sessions.

Baptism Preparation helps parents to enrich their understanding of the meaning and importance of the sacrament of Baptism in the life of their child and to prepare for the day their child will be baptized. After attending the session you may call to set up a date for your child's baptism.

We recommend that if possible, you attend the session before the birth so that both father and mother are able to attend.  We will be discussing our role as parents in bringing up our child in the Catholic Church, the powerful symbols that are used in the sacrament, a walk through the baptism liturgy, and a review of what to expect when you come to have your child baptized here at St. Jude.

If you have not previously registered as a member of St. Jude Parish, we ask that you do so as part of the baptism preparation process.  When you call just let the office know that you need to register and someone will contact you shortly to get you registered.

If You've Had Other Children Baptized at St. Jude

If you previously had a child baptized here at St. Jude, you should call the parish office at 815/485-8049 to request a Baptism Information form and to set a date for your child's baptism.

May Jesus bless you and your family!
